Bernie's Awake

Bernie: Want to pop round for 2 hours?

Me: OK, see you in a bit.

Arrives at Bernie's.

Bernie: Hi, you have 90 minutes to write and record a song.

Me: I don't know how to write songs, I can't sing and I can't play any instruments.

Bernie: Doesn't matter. Let's start.

Me: Erm, OK...

90 minutes later, my first ever song.

I think that's how it went for everyone else too. Bernie invited those he thought would have the spare time to his shed to write and record songs to be played at the Awake. It was a rather time-consuming and exhausting process for him so not quite as many original compositions were completed as he would have liked.

Dave Morgan had written some lyrics about his magpie and had composed an accompanying musical piece performed on the kazoo, but there wasn't enough time to get it recorded. Sam's song, Dyno, was deemed too good and was performed live by Fluro Green instead.

After the Awake, Bernie thought the songs deserved more exposure so he asked me to try to create videos for each track and publish them on YouTube. As well as not being a musician, I'm not a video expert either but I did as Bernie asked and the songs with videos are available below for you to listen to and watch.
